about

The government of El Salvador issued a recommendation that women don't get pregnant until 2018 to prevent the spread of Zika Virus. Abortion is illegal in El Salvador. Access to birth control is limited. A group of Argentinian doctors believe that increased microcephaly is not from Zika virus, but from a Larvicide manufactured by Sumitomo Chemical. We discuss Zika virus and women's reproductive rights in El Salvador with Suyapa Portillo, professor of Chicana Studies at Pitzer College.
